What is diabetes?

Diabetes is part of endocrinological diseases, therefore having it there are difficulties in the assimilation of glucose. This leads to a lack of the insulin hormone in the body, resulting in hyperglycemia, in other words a high concentration of glucose in the blood [1] .

Why do diabetes sufferers have a weak erection?

The causes of this event can be  :

• obstructs the passage of blood in the vessels;
• diabetic neuropathy (dysfunction of the nervous system, related to problems with small blood vessels);

During a research, carried out in Spain in 2002 [3] , Viagra had been shown to be highly effective , during therapies to treat impotence, to patients with diabetes. 92 patients with diabetes and erectile dysfunction participated:

• 44 of the men used Sildenafil;
• 48 of the men received a placebo.
• Experts deduced that 55.3% of men with diabetes who received the medicine were able to perform at least 1 successful sexual act.

In comparison, the same figure with men, taking a placebo, was shown with only 15.6%.

Plus, there were other positive improvements: 46.3% of men taking Viagra reported that their erections got much better (compared to what it was before therapy) and only 14, 9% of the men who took a placebo reported improved erectile function.

Viagra is an effective drug for treating erectile dysfunction in men suffering from diabetes.

It has been shown that the Sildenafil component is well tolerated, has weak and brief side effects.

Dosage

The standard starting dose is 50 mg, but in case of good tolerance it is 100 mg Sildenafil in 24 hours.
